Privacy

The Friend Call runs this service. This page says what we keep about you and why.

What we keep

Your first name and phone number. The days and times you chose. Optional details you give us: your town, birthday, and a contact person's name and email.

A written transcript of each call, and short notes made from it, so your friend can remember what you talked about.

If you pay, our card processor Stripe handles your card. We never see the card number.

It is an AI

The voice on the phone is an AI. It is not a person, a counsellor or a medical service. In an emergency ring 999.

Who else handles your data

Twilio (phone calls, texts, and turning speech into text and back), Anthropic (writes what the friend says) and Stripe (payments). They process it for us to run the service and for nothing else.

Who we tell

Nobody, with two exceptions. If someone arranged the calls for you and you agreed on the phone, we tell them when you've chatted and roughly how you seemed, never what was said. If you sound in serious difficulty we may tell the contact person you gave us so they can check on you.

Your choices

See and change your details in My account. Delete everything there with one button. Text STOP to the number that rings you to pause calls. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
